Who would have thought that skiing down a super mellow green run would be an enabler for your powder addiction, but a slide down Pika is the gateway to the hidden gem Pika Trees. It may take a couple of laps to spot the twig of a stick sporting a double black sign off to the right of the trail, but when you do, buckle up for a wild ride through some of the best tree skiing the Rockies has to offer.
This zone on the lookers left of Lookout Mountain at Sunshine Village offers up the goods on a regular basis. Not overly obvious, but visible from the chair, the trek is often worth the reward on this seldom skied slope that is quite often the benefactor of the prevailing wind at Sunshine.
On big snow days, local rippers in the know head to Norquay and go directly to the North American. This double, known affectionately as The Big Chair, is a local secret that has been serving up some of the steepest, most consistent fall lines in the Rockies since 1946. Runs like Gun Run, North American Bowl and the infamous Lone Pine are legend makers.
